Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen sour cherries pitted
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice
  • 1 medium frozen banana peeled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder Dutch-processed for deeper color
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds for added fiber and thickness
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract enhances the chocolate flavor
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup optional, to balance the tartness
  • 0.25 tsp almond extract gives a classic cherry-confection scent

Notes

For a protein boost, add a scoop of chocolate or vanilla protein powder. If you don't have sour cherries, use sweet dark cherries and add a squeeze of lemon juice to mimic the tartness. Store leftovers in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours, though the texture is best when fresh.
