Creamy Sapodilla Cinnamon Smoothie for Gut Health

Sapodilla Cinnamon Smoothie

Alex Carter
This creamy, tropical smoothie highlights the unique brown sugar and pear-like flavor of ripe sapodilla (chico fruit) enhanced by warm cinnamon. It is a naturally sweet, fiber-rich breakfast or snack that tastes like a healthy caramel milkshake.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 3 whole ripe sapodillas peeled, seeded, and chopped
  • 1 cup almond milk unsweetened; or milk of choice
  • 0.5 cup Greek yogurt plain or vanilla
  • 1 frozen banana banana sliced for easier blending
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon plus extra for garnish
  • 1 tsp honey optional, adjust based on fruit ripeness
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup ice cubes adjust for desired thickness

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute Greek yogurt with coconut yogurt and use maple syrup instead of honey. Sapodillas are very sweet when ripe, so taste before adding extra sweeteners. To make ahead, chop and freeze the sapodilla flesh in advance. Store leftovers in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 12 hours, though separation may occur.
