Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 cup groundcherries husks removed and rinsed
  • 1 cup frozen banana sliced into chunks for creaminess
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt plain or vanilla flavored
  • 0.5 cup almond milk unsweetened; add more for thinner consistency
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract high quality for best aroma
  • 1 tbsp honey optional, adjust based on fruit ripeness
  • 0.5 cup ice cubes for a chilled, frothy texture

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute the Greek yogurt with coconut yogurt and use maple syrup instead of honey. Groundcherries are also known as Cape Gooseberries or Husk Tomatoes. If you have extra groundcherries, they can be frozen and used directly in the blender for an even thicker smoothie. Store leftovers in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours, though separation may occur; shake well before drinking.
